Lake Little
Sunapee, commonly known as Little Lake
Sunapee, is located in the bucolic Town of New London in the
Dartmouth-Lake Sunapee region of New Hampshire with Kearsarge Mountain on
the horizon.
Sunapee is an Algonquin Indian word
meaning Goose Lake, and geese supply hours of enjoyment to the New
Londoners who reside in lake houses
nestled deep in the woods surrounding Little Lake
Sunapee. Although there is a
boat launch, many lake houses have
docks for boats and direct lake
access.
Little Lake
Sunapee is 472 acres, 1.7 miles long, 7/10 of a mile wide and
runs into its nearby big sister, Lake Sunapee, by passing through Goose
Pond and Otter Pond.
Little Lake
Sunapee's Bucklin Beach offers boating and swimming lessons
during the summer months: Kayaking and canoeing are popular as well
as sailing.
During the day, young mothers with
toddlers enjoy Little Lake Sunapee's
pristine waters and Bucklin Beach's play
equipment while other lake goers enjoy
a round of golf on a golf course overlooking Little
Lake Sunapee.
New Londoners come to Little Lake Sunapee's Bucklin Beach in the
evenings, bring dinner, and watch the magnificent pink and orange
sunsets. Other New Londoners take a quick swim after work before
going home for dinner. Fido joins in the lake
fun.
